I've conquered for Cancer Council

Why I'm Walking

Cancer affects 1 in 2 Australians in their lives.

Last year, after 2 biopsy surgeries and months of scans and specialist appointments, I became the 1 in 2. On September 23rd I received the call that no one wants to hear. I was diagnosed with a low grade Osteosarcoma. On October 14th I underwent a tibial reconstruction, involving surgery on both legs, radiation and metal bolts and fixings. I am so, so lucky that my team are ahead in the research for this kind of surgery, and I was able to avoid amputation. But it's still not easy. I was told I have an 18 month recovery, and nearly a year on, I seem like I'm basically back to normal. But things won't ever be the way "normal" was before.

Cancer changed my life. I'm walking to prove to myself that one year after being released from hospital in a wheelchair, I am capable of doing the things I love. I'm taking back control of my life and walking to raise money for everyone having to go through cancer diagnosis and treatment. Because it's scary, it's hard, and even out the other side, nothing is ever as it was.

I’m walking for a cancer free future

I’m taking on 7 Bridges Walk on Sunday 26th October 2025 and will be uniting with the community to walk 28km around Sydney Harbour.

Every year in NSW alone, more than 53,000 new cases of cancer are expected to be diagnosed and the impact on families, carers and communities is significant.

Please sponsor me and help those affected by cancer. Every step counts because all funds raised will help Cancer Council NSW work towards the vision of a cancer free future. Thank you for your support!

So far this year I’ve helped provide:

63 kids with a SunSmart education

or

2 calls to trained cancer professionals on 13 11 20

or

3 hours of a research assistant's time to work on research we fund
