I’m Walking In Honour for My Father for a Cancer Free Future

In honour of my father, Dominic Tang, I’m taking on the 7 Bridges Walk on Sunday 26th October 2025 and will be uniting with the community to walk 28km around Sydney Harbour. 

On 17th January 2023 my father was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung, brain and spinal cancer. 

On 28th May 2023, the spinal cancer resulted in a tumor which affected my father's mobility and he was never able to walk again. I am walking the 7 Bridges Walk for every step my father was no longer able to take. 

Sadly my father lost his battle on 26th September 2023. He tried his best and came agonizingly close to meeting his first granddaughter but unfortunately he fell short by 68 days. 

My goal is to share my personal experience, raise awareness of cancer and the effects it can have on the patient and family members. Adopting healthy lifestyle choices, early detection and supporting those affected are the best tools we have. Please help me spread awareness and share this message with your loved ones. A few minor lifestyle choices or decisions to seek screening procedures may go a long way. 

If only I had a time machine to meet my father in the past and tell him that some simple lifestyle choices may have given him the chance to meet his granddaughter. 

In NSW alone, more than 53,000 new cases of cancer are expected to be diagnosed and the impact on families, carers and communities is significant. 

Raising awareness can greatly help those affected by cancer. Every step counts to help Cancer Council NSW work towards the vision of a cancer free future. Thank you very much for your support.
