In Loving Memory: Neville Henderson’s Legacy of Service and Strength
In December 2024, we said goodbye to Neville Henderson—a devoted father, community leader, and tireless advocate—whose life was defined by compassion, integrity, and service. Neville passed away after a brave battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire those who knew him.
Neville’s professional journey began in 1964 and spanned five decades, marked by dedication and excellence in the insurance industry. His career took him across Australia and the Pacific, where he built lasting relationships and mentored many, including his own children. In his later years, Neville transitioned into insurance broking, concluding his distinguished career in 2013.
But Neville’s impact extended far beyond his work. He was deeply committed to his community, dedicating countless hours to youth programs and volunteer initiatives. His selfless contributions were recognised in 2014 when he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM)—a reflection of the lives he touched and the hope he inspired.
Neville’s journey with cancer was met with courage and grace. Through the challenges, he remained steadfast in his love for family and community. His story is a powerful reminder of the importance of early detection, support networks, and continued investment in cancer research.
As we remember Neville, we also reaffirm our commitment to supporting those affected by cancer. His legacy lives on in the work of organisations like Cancer Council, which strive to improve outcomes and provide hope for families across Australia.
Neville Henderson will be deeply missed, but his spirit of generosity and resilience will never be forgotten.
I’m walking for a cancer free future
I’m taking on 7 Bridges Walk on Sunday 26th October 2025 and will be uniting with the community to walk 28km around Sydney Harbour.
Every year in NSW alone, more than 53,000 new cases of cancer are expected to be diagnosed and the impact on families, carers and communities is significant.
Please sponsor me and help those affected by cancer. Every step counts because all funds raised will help Cancer Council NSW work towards the vision of a cancer free future. Thank you for your support!
So far this year I’ve helped provide:
196 kids with a SunSmart education
7 calls to trained cancer professionals on 13 11 20
9 hours of a research assistant's time to work on research we fund
