I've conquered for Cancer Council
Why am I walking?
Have you been affected by cancer in you life? If not, chances are that at sometime in your life you will be. This could be your own diagnosis or that of a close loved one. My recent experience is that of supporting my wife after her breast cancer diagnosis. She is no cancer detected (NCD) at the moment, which is a relief for both of us. The care and support she received and my eventual wish that no one else goes through with anything like this is why I am walking. While my wife was having her own battles, a school friend of mine was incredibly supportive. She was going through her own long battle with breast cancer. Unfortunately her illness took her earlier this year. Kirsty, I am eternally grateful for your support, your memory is a big part of why I am walking.
There are many others I have known in my life with a cancer diagnosis, some are or were NCD and some passed away from their cancer. Most recently the last of my grandparent's siblings died, 99, just short of 100, he had an aggressive cancer diagnosis when he died. Because I know each and every one of you is why I am walking.
If you are this far into my post, you may also want to help. One way you can help, if you are able to, is to support me in my walk with a donation. 100% of the funds raised go to the Cancer Council who are working towards a cancer free future.
I’m walking for a cancer free future
I’m taking on 7 Bridges Walk on Sunday 25 October 2026 and will be uniting with the community to walk 28km around Sydney Harbour.
Every year in NSW alone, more than 56,000 new cases of cancer are expected to be diagnosed and the impact on families, carers and communities is significant.
Please sponsor me and help those affected by cancer. Every step counts because all funds raised will help Cancer Council NSW work towards the vision of a cancer free future. Thank you for your support!
