Walking in Memory of Jane Towards a Cancer-Free Future

On Sunday 25 October 2026, I'll be walking 28km in the 7 Bridges Walk around Sydney Harbour in memory of my beautiful cousin, Jane. 

Jane was just 48 years old when she passed away on 6 May 2026, after an incredibly courageous five-year battle with cancer. Throughout her journey, she showed extraordinary strength, resilience and unwavering determination. She inspired us all with the way she faced each day.

Our team is called Jane's Sisu Squad because sisu is a Finnish word that describes the quiet courage, grit and inner strength to keep going, even when the road ahead feels impossibly hard. It captures the spirit Jane showed throughout her journey, and the spirit I'll carry on every one of the 28 kilometres walked.

I'm also walking for the thousands of Australians and their families whose lives are impacted by cancer every day. Every diagnosis changes lives, and every dollar raised helps make a difference.

The first time I completed the 28km walk was in 2023 when we hoped Jane would beat cancer - and this year I am walking in her memory.
