Walking for the Family Lost

When I was 15/16, we lost my Great Grandmother to Cancer and it Rocked our family.
She was not the first we lost due to Cancer and nor was she the last, but she is the first that I remember.
After her passing, how we celebrated and interacted as family changed.
There was no more visiting for hot chook and chips on random weekends.
No more Easter weekend and painting eggs with the holders and brushes that do many of the family had used for years.
No more birthday cards each year with a $2 coin taped to the inside (I didn't reach her transition age for scratchie instead before she passed).
No more Christmas at her house, where she would have a stocking for every child under 12 (with their stale coloured popcorn, little activities and little gift) or a wrapped gift for those over 12.
She has been greatly missed

I’m walking for a cancer free future in memory of my Great Grandmother

I’m taking on 7 Bridges Walk on Sunday 25 October 2026 and will be uniting with the community to walk 28km around Sydney Harbour (I'm gunna die 😭😭🤣🤦‍♀️)

Every year in NSW alone, more than 56,000 new cases of cancer are expected to be diagnosed and the impact on families, carers and communities is significant.

This is a cause that hits incredibly close to home, as several of my family members have passed due to various types of cancer.

Please sponsor me and help those affected by cancer. Every step counts because all funds raised will help Cancer Council NSW work towards the vision of a cancer free future. Thank you for your support!

So far this year I’ve helped provide:

31 kids with a SunSmart education

or

1 calls to trained cancer professionals on 13 11 20

or

1 hours of a research assistant's time to work on research we fund

Thank you to my Sponsors
