Rounding the Bases for a Cure

As "Full Count Fighters," we know that winning isn't always about a single, monumental hit. Sometimes, it's about consistently getting on base, moving runners over, and tirelessly rounding the bases until you cross home plate. Our 28km 7 Bridges Walk is exactly that kind of game.

Each kilometer we walk is like another base gained. We'll be walking past iconic landmarks, over magnificent bridges, and with every stride, we'll be thinking of the countless individuals and families, including our mothers, impacted by cancer. We're literally "rounding the bases for a cure," knowing that every donation, every show of support, propels us closer to that ultimate goal: a world free from cancer.

Our baseball uniforms won't just be a fun family theme; they'll be a symbol of our collective power. Just as a baseball team relies on every player, every pitch, and every play, we rely on the collective effort of our community to fund vital cancer research and support services. Imagine each donation as a powerful swing of the bat, driving in the "runs" needed to advance the fight.

We're not just walking; we're pushing for extra innings, we're fouling off pitches, we're taking every chance to score. We refuse to let cancer win. We invite you to be part of our team, whether it's by walking with us (virtually or in spirit!), cheering us on, or, most importantly, by donating to our campaign. Let's make every step count towards a future where cancer is struck out for good.

Stepping Up to the Plate: Why We're 'Full Count Fighters'

Hey everyone! We are the "Full Count Fighters" (see slightly altered photos) ready to hit the pavement for the upcoming 7 Bridges Walk! Our team name isn't just a catchy phrase; it's a declaration of our spirit, inspired by the game we love and the battle we're fighting.

In baseball, a "full count" means three balls and two strikes. It's the absolute brink. One more ball, and you walk to first. One more strike, and you're out. It's a moment of immense pressure, requiring laser focus, unwavering determination, and the will to not give up. Every single pitch matters.

That's exactly how we feel about the fight against cancer. For so many, a cancer diagnosis feels like being "behind in the count." It's a daunting challenge, a moment where the stakes couldn't be higher. But like a seasoned major league batter, we refuse to strike out. We're stepping up to the plate, digging in, and fighting with everything we've got.

Our family will be kitted out in our favorite MLB jerseys – proudly representing our love for the game as we tackle 28km. This walk isn't just about the distance; it's about honoring those who are fighting, remembering our mothers, who we lost to cancer too soon, and raising crucial funds to ensure that more people get to first base, steal second, hit that game-winning home run and beat this disease.

Join us as we take on this challenge, one step, one bridge, one donation at a time. Together, we can turn this full count into a win - or at least a move in the right direction.

We’re walking for a cancer free future

We’re taking on 7 Bridges Walk on Sunday 26th October 2025 and will be uniting with the community to walk 28km around Sydney Harbour.

Every year in NSW alone, more than 53,000 new cases of cancer are expected to be diagnosed and the impact on families, carers and communities is significant.

Please sponsor me/us and help those affected by cancer. Every step counts because all funds raised will help Cancer Council work towards the vision of a cancer free future. Thank you for your support!
