I've conquered for Cancer Council

Almost there... Walk on 26 October... THANK YOU EVERYONE!

With the walk just over a week away, I'd like to thank all of the very generous supporters who have helped me hit a personal best in fundraising for this event - over $16,000 so far.

Special thanks to the people who support me every year, but I'd also like to specifically mention some special contributors:

1. Mr Rob Reynolds who very generously and quietly anchors my campaign every year, and has asked me to thank all the people involved in treating and looking after cancer patients

2. Ison & Co, Nowra, particularly my Mum, Uncle, Aunty and cousins who all supported the donation

3. My cousins Catherine and Michael who have again made amazing contributions in honour of their Dad, Alan and Brother, Peter

4. My mum, Philippa, who also anchors and cheers me every year (well, since I was born)

5. My good mate Mr Dooley who apart from being generous, lost a bet ;)

6. John Prineas, an old friend who keeps coming back!

The amazing generosity this year means the Cancer Council has given me the honour of renaming the Harbour Bridge for a day. With this being the 20th 7 Bridges Walk, and this year being the 20th anniversary of  Venessa's diagnosis with Breast Cancer, it's fitting that her message of hope, which she has been plugging all of that time, gets some recognition. In that time I have lost count of the number of events, large and small, which she has participated in, or organised and hosted: The Avon Walk in New York, 7 Bridges Walk, Beers 4 Boobs, Bubbles for Boobs, Bridges 4 Boobs, it goes on and on. The events and her reminders to "Feel on the First" and other awareness campaigns are really important contributions to reducing the impacts of this disease.

Finally, if anyone has delayed donating, this is a final push to see if I can get closer to 20k...

Thanks everyone, and looking forward to catching up with those of you who are also walking on the 26th.

Loadie

I can't thank everyone enough - it makes it so easy to keep coming back every year.

Back supporting the great work of the Cancer Council

I’m back again for the 7 Bridges Walk on Sunday 26th October 2025 - 28km around Sydney Harbour.

Some of you will know that I started doing this many years ago after my wife Venessa was diagnosed with breast cancer - the good news is that, with thanks to our amazing medical system, researchers, doctors, nurses etc, she has been "cancer free" for over 20 years now. This is only possible due to ongoing research breakthroughs, new treatments, and people being more aware and catching cancers earlier when the outcomes are so much better. Much of the important research is privately funded via donations.

Any and all support is greatly appreciated, and obviously goes to many good causes under the Cancer Council umbrella of educating, preventing, supporting, and curing cancer.

Thanks again everyone, but particularly to those who have financially supported my efforts for many years now. I reckon we are well north of $100,000, so I'd like to think that we are all actually moving the needle.

Andrew/Loadie
