recently i was one of 10,000 people who took part in a fantastic community event called the seven bridges walk. the event covered a circular route around sydney's fabulous harbour and over you guessed it seven bridges. all up it was 27km when my husband simon and i did it for the first time three years ago we felt pretty good about managing five bridges. this year we took our dog dizzy and managed the whole route. dizzy needed an unsizzled sausage and plenty of water stops but gots lots of attention which I'm sure kept him going in the end we all go through in a good nick and felt a real sense of achievement and what a lovely way it was to spenbd a spring sunday i never cease to be humbled by the number of people who muck in to volunteer their services at these kinds of events and this was the same we were raising money for the cancer council NSW so there were heaps of yello buckets being jiggled for coins by smiling volunteers many charities both national and local benefit from fun runs walks cycles and anyting else anyone can think of and long may they live because there's something wonderful about getting outside and getting active with others for a great cause I'd love to hear about your favourite events in your local community and what makes them special.
