FORMER ironman great Guy Leech has urged parents to teach their children about the benefits of exercise and healthy living. "If we want to turn around our unhealthy country, which is becoming more and more unhealthy parents need to step up and become better role models for the next generation," said Leech, who is setting a good example by walking with his daughter Phoenix, 5, in next Sunday's NSW Cancer Council Seven Bridges Walk. "Kids look up to their parents and what they do ... is mirrored by their kids to a degree." Leech said the annual event a 27km course that winds a scenic route through Sydney, crossing the seven most famous bridges, including the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Pyrmont, Anzac, Iron Cove, Gladesville, Tarban Creek and Fig Tree bridges is a way for families to get active SEVEN EMUS walk SI.* MEM/ 7 and while raising money for charity. "The great thing about these events is everyone can have a go," he said. "You don't have to be someone who is very fit, and you don't have to do the entire course."
