The iconic bridge of the seven bridges walkers can cross to help fight cancer.
OCTOBER is the perfect time of year to get
active and slip on those walking shoes for
a good cause.
Registrations are now open for the
fourth annual Cancer Council NSW Seven
Bridges Walk which is to be held on
Sunday October 31.
The event is set to attract up to 20,000
walking enthusiasts who can walk all or
just a portion of the 25km course that
crosses Sydney Harbour's seven iconic
bridges the Sydney Harbour Bridge,
Pyrmont Bridge, ANZAC Bridge, Iron
Cove Bridge, Gladesville Bridge, Tarban
Creek Bridge and Fig Tree Bridge.
Feeling puffed at the thought of 25km
walk? Never fear walkers can start and
finish at any of the bridges and there will
be free special event buses and ferries to
return people to their starting points.
Food, refreshments and entertainment
will also be available at the seven bridge
villages along the way.
The event is set to open at 8am and
finish at 5pm. Pets are also welcome to join
walkers if they are on a leash.
The Seven Bridges Walk hit the ground
running in 2007 and was started up by the
Pedestrian Council of Australia. This
year, for the first time, Cancer Council
NSW is a naming partner for the event and
funds raised from donations and the $10
adult registration fee will go toward their
vital cancer research, prevention, information
and support services.
Other proud Seven Bridges Walk supporting
partners include Telstra, Asics,
QBE, the NSW Government as well as
media partner The Sunday Telegraph.
