Bridge walk raises funds SEVEN bridges walk SPRING has officially settled in and Sydneysiders are swapping their tracksuits and beanies for track shoes and sunglasses as they venture outdoors. October is the perfect time of year to get active and slip on those walking shoes for a good cause. Registrations are open for the fourth annual Cancer Council NSW Seven Bridges Walk, on Sunday, October 31. The event is set to attract up to 20,000 walking enthusiasts who can walk all or just a portion of the 25km course that crosses Sydney Harbour's seven iconic bridges Sydney Harbour, Pyrmont, Anzac, Iron Cove, Gladesville, Tarban Creek and Fig Tree bridges. Feeling puffed at the thought of a 25km walk? Never fear walkers can start and finish at any of the bridges and there will be free special event buses and ferries to return people to their starting points. Food, refreshments and entertainment will also be available at the seven bridge villages along the way. The event will open at 8am and finish at 5pm. Four-legged friends are also welcome to join walkers if they are on a leash. The Seven Bridges Walk hit the ground running in 2007 and was started up by the Pedestrian Council of Australia. This year, for the first time, Cancer Council NSW is a naming partner for the event and funds raised from donations and the $10 adult registration fee will go towards their vital cancer research, prevention, information and support services. Other Seven Bridges Walk supporting partners include Telstra, Asics, QBE, the State Government and The Sunday, Telegraph. Inquiries: www.7bridgeswalk.com.au
